The presence of the RAF at Bradwell on Sea from 1938, with a small grass strip airfield serving the Dengie Flats firing range to the building of the large concrete runway airbase that was RAF Bradwell Bay. This airbase became a very busy RAF Station and over it’s time was home to about 30 Squadrons at different times using many different aircraft types. RAF Bradwell Bay was involved in many major campaigns of WW2.
