Incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into your family tree research [Zoom Only] on 30 June 2025

a talk by

Penny Walters

Genealogy has traditionally been a labour-intensive process requiring extensive manual searches through physical archives, oral histories, and written records. The advent of digital technologies introduced online databases, improving access to historical records. Today, AI is taking genealogy to the next level by automating and enhancing processes that were previously limited by time, geography, and human capabilities. Tools powered by AI are now central to modern genealogy, enabling researchers of all experience levels to uncover their family histories with greater accuracy and speed. This session highlights how AI reduces manual research time while increasing accessibility to non-digitized archives and linguistic barriers. Challenges, including data privacy and algorithmic biases, are also examined, offering insights into ethical considerations when adopting AI in family tree research.
