Search Services to obtain Birth, Marriage or
Death Certificates
The Birth, Marriage and Death Indexes (BMD), also known as the General Register Office Indexes (GRO) are now available in our Research Centre. The Society holds the microfiche from its start on 1st July, 1837, through to 2001.
Search Service
We search for a
named person in specified years.
Our
charge for the service to customers living within the
European Union is:
Members - £1.00 per year searched plus postage;
Non-members: £2.00 per year searched plus postage.
Our
charge for the service to customers living outside the European Union is:
Members - £0.85 per year searched plus postage;
Non-members: £1.70 per year searched plus postage.
If you supply an e-mail address the search results will be sent by e-mail
and no postage charge will be incurred
Please print out and complete the BMD Search Service form (which is in .pdf format) and send it together with your sterling cheque or postal order to the address shown on the form.
If you wish to pay by credit card please use our Online Bookshop facility. We regret that this service is temporarily suspended due to the sale of the GENfair facility
Please allow up to two weeks for delivery.
You will
receive a listing of the most likely matches. This can range from a nil response
to an unlimited number of possibilities. If, on receipt of the list of possible
matches, you would like to purchase any as certificates, you can then use our
BMD Certificate Service.
