Whilst
the
Society participates in the compilation of the National Burials Index (NBI) we
also have a separate Burial Database, transcribed from Essex Burial Registers which covers the period 1537 to
2000. The number of records increases almost daily with
many Essex
parishes so far included in whole or in part. Some of the data has yet to be checked but any report will indicate the
current status of an individual record. When
these records are fully checked, they will be included in the subsequent
National Burial Index CDs.
We are currently concentrating on Anglican Churches and only inputting other data if and when it is given to us. At the moment we have Non Conformist (Mainly Baptist) burials in Harlow and a few Roman Catholic burials in Chelmsford.
